Details In working as a Chartered Surveyor in Property and Construction for thirteen years, I have been involved in dispute avoidance and resolution throughout that period. An awareness of the benefits of a conciliatory approach to dispute resolution during this time and an introduction to mediation as a process lead to me undertaking training as a community mediator with Norwich and District Legal Services Committee (NDLS). With NDLS over a period of five years I took part in over twenty-five mediations mainly concerning boundary disputes.

In 1997 the Daniel Connal Partnership, the surveying practice with whom I am a partner, set up Mediation Norwich to offer a commercial dispute resolution service. I have been running this service since its inception and through it have been involved in building and boundary mediations as well as acting for housing associations conducting mediations between their tenants.

As Surveyors with experience in designing for disability, we are increasingly becoming involved in access consultancy. My knowledge of the legislation and codes of practice involved with the Disability Discrimination Act and the needs of people with disabilities will enable me to act as a mediator on disability access issues.
