Since qualifying as a solicitor in 1978 John has specialised in civil and commercial litigation, with particular expertise in copyright and entertainments. After working for six years at Harbottle & Lewis, a leading West End firm of commercial and entertainments solicitors, he practised in the field of legal aid litigation. He set up his own firm, John Byrne & Co., in 1987 in Covent Garden in London as a niche entertainments/legal aid practice, eventually transferring to Cambridge in 2001. John is an enthusiast for mediation and is now a specialist mediator. He has been accredited since 1999 with CEDR (the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution) and is registered with them as a practising mediator. He is also a member of the Law Society's Civil and Commercial Mediation panel and a mediator with Cambridge Community Mediation Service. His wide litigation and mediation experience, including contract, intellectual property, company and partnership disputes as well as employment, housing, personal injury and other negligence claims, provides a sound basis for him to help resolve a wide range of disputes. |
