| Details | I am a Director in the firm of Januarys which can trace its formation back to 1937. Trading as Januarys, the company is now an independent firm of commercial property and planning consultants based solely in Cambridge, but dealing with property primarily in East Anglia and elsewhere. I joined Douglas January & Partners (as it then was) in 1980 and subsequently became an Associate Partner in that firm. I was part of the management team which acquired the commercial operation in 1991 and I am now the Director in charge of professional and management services. I have practised in East Anglia for almost all my professional career during which time I have obtained a full grounding in both residential and commercial property. I have experience in the practical aspects of building construction and advise clients on general building matters. For the Iast twenty years I have specialised in commercial property and concentrating on professional work for the last seventeen years and Dispute Resolution in the last twelve years. My principal area of operation in the last twenty years has been in commercial property in Cambridge and the other towns in East Anglia. In that time I have had considerable experience in retail, office and industrial property acting on the sale, acquisition and letting of buildings in each sector. More recently I have dealt with mainly landlord and tenant matters, acting for both landlords and tenants. I am a practising Arbitrator and Independent Expert and receive appointments from both the President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and with the agreement of the parties. I also sit on a panel interviewing arbitrators under the RICS training scheme. In 1995 I attended a Mediation Training Course run by the RICS in conjunction with CEDR and received CEDR accreditation in May 1996. I have had some subsequent experience as a mediator since that time in both property and non-property disputes. I am now on the panel of RICS approved mediators. |
